Graffiti Bridge is a journey into the imagery that transforms the infamous Graffiti Bridge from ugly industrialization into the ever evolving canvas of temporary art that it has become.

  1. Great start. I want to see more. There's so much to that bridge. If you see Tyler Knisely's name up on the wall, could you please take a picture of it for me? He was a friend of mine that just passed less than a year ago.

The angles are nice. I wish I could make out what the writing says.

  4. I'm not from Pensacola and even though I've been here for about 7 years I still don't know a lot about this place. I think I can count on one hand how many times I've passed by that bridge and when I do it always leaves me with this sense of wonder, just because I don't know about it. I love this breaking down of the bridge, looking at pieces that make up the whole. It's kind of like a "getting to know you" with an object rather than a person. :)

  6. I like the angle of the photograph and I would love to see more. It's nice that you are taking something that is a part of Pensacola culture and breaking it down into sections.

  7. It is definitely a great start and I've always liked looking at bridges in photographs. Your overall idea works for me and I can’t wait to see some more photos.

  8. Hey!
This is a great idea and the photos are beautiful! I like the idea of putting all of the photos together at the end! You said once that you were worried about them not all aligning up perfectly, but I wouldn't worry about it unless that is something you really want. There's a photographer/painter named David Hockney that did that with photos, and they are really neat because they don't all align up and you see different angles and views! Your doing a good job so far and I look forward to seeing more!

  9. i had an idea involving the bridge for my book as well. i was going to take a picture every few days from the same spot and see the progression of the bridge. maybe some shots like that would go with your idea.

  10. The sunset picture is awesome! I would like to see if there is some really cool graffiti there. I have been going under that bridge since the 60's and it has always been colorful!

  11. We just need more.

While I think that the sunset image is lovely on many levels, I am not sure that it fits with the theme of the book. It seems like the important stuff is what is on the bridge, I almost just want a full daylight shot.
Honestly, I am not so sure we need the whole bridge at all--except the one that you will make for us.... just a thought.

  12. working with the bridge is a cool idea. and it certainly has potential to be great. right now it is hard for me to wrap my mind around what exactly the concept is tho. so just keep working on it.

  14. Yay! I'm glad you took some close up shots! I really wish I could read some of the writing, though. For example, I'm always seeing stuff on the bridge that says "John hearts Jane". That might be something to consider.
